Colorado is well-known as a pretty laid-back state, so you can rest assured that fashion in Vail is a bit more relaxed than in other luxury ski resorts of the world. However, the local style still emphasizes smart silhouettes and well-fitting, functional clothes, so avoid a fashion faux pas and leave your ripped jeans, sweatpants, shorts and sneakers at home.
Another tip to help you blend in with the locals: ski wear does not double as après ski wear. Try to resist the temptation to go to dinner still wearing your insulated pants and ski boots. You’ll be much more comfortable and in sync with the local crowd of you stop by your room and change into something fresh with a bit more style personality.
ONE OUTFIT, MANY LOOKS
If there was a quintessential look for women in Vail, it would be skinny jeans, low-heeled ankle boots, a knit top, and a cozy outer layer. This ensemble is comfortable, practical, and flattering on every figure type. The beauty of it is in its versatility, where simple swaps of the footwear, pants, or outer layer allow you to create a myriad of custom looks, from dressy to trendy to casual. It also gives fashionistas the ability to layer up for cooler temperatures.Fashion blogger and Colorado native, Amber from Every Once In a Style, executes the look flawlessly. The dark wash of her jeans and rich brown tones of her ankle-boots and
oversized cardigan blend seamlessly with an autumn color palette. The oversized handbag is a brilliant accessory thanks to its luxurious texture and it’s large enough to hold all her essentials plus her cardigan if she finds herself warming up beside the fireplace.https://www.instagram.com/p/BAw8T6NwxvC/embed/?cr=1&v=7&wp=658&rd=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.theploumanach.com&rp=%2Fblogs%2Fwhat-to-wear-on-vacation%2Fwhat-to-wear-to-vail#%7B%22ci%22%3A0%2C%22os%22%3A4284%7D
For an edgier –and slightly warmer- spin on this outfit, we found Denver Darling, Abby Miller. Vail is one of her favorite places in the world and she escapes to its slopes several times a year (she even got married there!) Abby’s jacket pairs perfectly with the long knit top and black skinny jeans, and her fur-trimmed accessories bring in a feminine touch to balance the edginess of the jacket. Her lightweight leather gloves add the final touch, offering a stylish option separate from her warm ski mittens. We’ll wager that she invested in smartphone compatible gloves. They have specially designed fingertips to keep your fingers warm without impeding your communication.
Vail Summer Packing List
1. Denim Jacket
I always pack a denim jacket to wear over summer dresses and my workout clothes. Wearing a dress with a denim jacket is my usual go-to for daytime excursions in Vail like exploring the village or going to the farmer’s markets.
2. Easy Dresses
Be sure to pack some easy and casual dresses for lunches in the sun. This affordable one from Amazon is a go-to for me all summer and I often top it with a belt for a more elevated look. It comes in a variety of colors and patterns and I own it in two colors in a size M. Even more summer dresses.
I always have a lightweight puffer jacket for chillier mornings (staying warm is key!) and this one packs up so well. And I also love that it comes in loads of colors and is super affordable. I own the M. There is also a version with a hood if you’d prefer that.
Be ready for hikes or yoga in the valley with a favorite pair of leggings.
My very favorite joggers (and they’re also internet famous!) are always in my suitcase to head to Vail.
